DRH890 Digital ORP Sensor Now Available for Global Water Treatment Projects

Our engineering team has released the DRH890 digital ORP sensor, a stainless steel 316 ORP probe designed for continuous oxidation-reduction potential monitoring in environmental protection water treatment, surface water, pure water and circulating water systems. The sensor also serves electroplating, electronics, printing and dyeing, chemical, food and pharmaceutical process lines, where reliable ORP readings directly affect dosing control and effluent compliance.

The DRH890 combines the classic electrochemical measuring principle with fully digital signal processing. The result is a probe that reports stable values over a wide range of -2000 to 2000 mV while keeping the wiring, calibration and maintenance routine simple enough for plant technicians to handle without specialist support.

Five Installation Options from One Body

Because both ends carry a 1-inch NPT thread, a single DRH890 body supports side wall installation, top flange mounting, pipeline installation, submerged installation and flow-through installation. This flexibility lets integrators standardise on one spare part across an entire plant. The manual specifies an electrode installation angle within ±30 degrees and warns that the probe must never be mounted horizontally or inverted, so the measuring surface stays wetted and air bubbles do not collect on the electrode.

Straightforward RS485 Modbus Integration

The sensor works as a Modbus RTU slave over RS485 and requires only four wires: red for power positive, black for power negative, white for RS485 data A and green for RS485 data B. Aviation plug versions arrive pre-wired, so commissioning usually means setting the slave address, baud rate, parity and stop bits, then reading ORP and temperature values directly into a PLC, data logger or SCADA platform. Zero, slope and offset calibration can also be triggered over the bus, and a factory-reset command restores the default parameter set when a probe is moved between sites.

Maintenance That Fits a Normal Shutdown Schedule

The maintenance plan is deliberately simple: visual inspection every month, a calibration check monthly or according to the process conditions, electrode replacement on a yearly basis, and seal maintenance by the manufacturer every two years. Following the two-year seal service is important because an unmaintained seal can allow water to enter the sensor body and permanently damage the electronics.

The DRH890 is suited to sewage treatment aeration and disinfection control, drinking water treatment, surface water and pollution source monitoring, cooling and circulating water systems, electroplating rinse baths, and chemical or pharmaceutical process streams.
